Via GameSpot:

Last November, Sega announced that it had taken over the game license for the Marvel Comics hero Iron Man from Activision. Today, the Japan-based company announced it has acquired three more game licenses from the venerable comic book publisher turned media powerhouse.

Evildoers, beware!.

Foremost among the new acquisitions is The Incredible Hulk, who is currently appearing in the role-playing game Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. Previously, Vivendi Games held the game rights to the brawny superhero, releasing 2005's critically acclaimed The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction (PS2, Xbox, GameCube) and 2003's less praised The Hulk (PC, PS2, Xbox, GameCube). Under the new deal, Sega will also be developing games based on the forthcoming movie The Incredible Hulk, which stars Edward Norton as the Hulk's less angry alter ego, Bruce Banner. The game will be released alongside the film next summer.

Though he may have died in comic books, Captain America will live on in game form. Sega is planning a game based on the forthcoming Captain America film, which is still in development. The last game that centered on the shield-wielding hero was Captain America and the Avengers (Game Boy, 1994), although he currently also appears in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance.

Last--but in the minds of would-be Vikings everywhere, not least--Sega has landed the license for The Mighty Thor. Like Captain America, the comic centering on the earthly adventures of the Norse god is being turned into a film with a tentative post-2008 release date. The Mighty Thor game--the first based solely on the character--will be released alongside said movie on undisclosed consoles. (Thor is also a featured hero in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance.)

Today's deal is a "multi-year global licensing agreement" that gives Sega exclusive rights to make Thor, Hulk, and Captain America games for consoles, handhelds, and the PC. In a statement, Simon Jeffery, Sega of America's president and COO, said, "As Sega continues to create games that are built from the ground up to appeal to Western audiences it makes perfect sense to work with a powerhouse like Marvel."

Videogame players will have another title to place beside their copies of Lego Star Wars games. According to Variety, Warner Bros. has signed to produce a Lego Batman videogame, to be developed by TT Games, which also developed Lego Star Wars.

According to the trade, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment will fully finance and publish the game itself, as well as handle all distribution in North America.

The game will follow the Lego Star Wars model, that is, all the characters and sets will be constructed of Lego pieces. More than likely, the games will follow in the successful footsteps of the two Lego Star Wars installments, which have sold several millions of copies, not only to the younger set, but also to adult gamers, due to the games’ charm, gameplay, and sense of humor.

A 2008 release is planned, more than likely in time with the release of Batman: The Dark Knight, the sequel to Batman Begins, which is due out on July 18, 2008.

Lego currently has a license to produce Batman toys and playsets made from Legos, and is on its second wave of figures and sets.

Hmm... looks like things might get interesting in the DCU later this year...

Its DVD Tuesday... Superman Returns is now available, in 3 different flavors: Full/Widescreen, Special Edition & Deluxe Edition! If you haven't seen the movie yet, go out and grab a copy. Also, the Ultimate Edition (with over 20 hours of bonus features) contains all Superman movies to date, including Superman II: The Richard Donner cut (which is definitely a must-watch/buy!) The Donner cut can also be purchased separately. And lastly, Superman Returns is available for just about every console in the land.

I want to thank everyone who emailed me about your LCS (local comic shops), this list is getting so huge! I also want to thank everyone who still go to the blogs on a daily basis, I am working on a lot of cool stuff coming up, and its just been a tough year but thats no excuse for me not to give you an update of whats been going on. In the coming week(s) there will be new material up and I hope you all continue with me as you have for this long (December 13th will be the 2 year anniversary so theres gonna be a lot going on around then!)

I'm looking for every and any comic shop in the world to create one of the most comprehensive directories' on the web. If you have any to share or if any retailers want to let me know of their store, leave a comment here or email me at comicsimpulse@gmail.com. Thanks again!

Well I just went over to Newsarama and saw very shocking, jaw-dropping news... just wow...

Nuff said.

I just wanted to announce that Comics Impulse is now on MySpace. There's more about the future of this blog can be found here. Again, I appreciate all the people who have made this, Comics Universe and New Comics Universe pretty trafficked blogs in the past 18 months. The best is yet to come, so while there's only a few more weeks until the changes, check out the MySpace link or to the left of your screen.

I just surfed to Teen Titans Animated and I was shocked to learn that season six of the hugely popular animated show may not even make it to the air. TTA cites that a source inside the series said Cartoon Network has decided not to pick up the show for the next season. I watch this show faithfully, with my daughter (who loves the show and watches every chance she can) as I did with Batman, Superman & Static Shock. If there are any fans out there who like this show & don't wanna see it end this way, read TTA's plea to the viewers:

Teen Titans' Sixth Season Looks Unlikely

As of November 15th, a source very close to production of Teen Titans has alerted titanstower.com: The prospect of a sixth season of the popular series is looking very, very, very dim. So if anyone was inclined to start a letter writing campaign, it needs to be started yesterday!

If you feel there are more Titans stories to be told, let Cartoon Network know how you feel. Snail mail is the most effective way. Scores of individual letters have the most impact; Petitions are generally worthless in networks' eyes. The best bet is to start a letter writing campaign with individual heartfelt letters stating you would like the show to continue. MAKE SURE TO PUT "SAVE TEEN TITANS!" BIG AND BOLD ON THE OUTSIDE ENVELOPE!

I found the name of the man responsible for Programming and Development of Cartoon Network: Senior Vice President Bob Higgins. We can start addressing letters to him. Spread the word and tell your friends. Titans Fans - Go!

Infinite Crisis #1, touted as the biggest book of 2005 is now on sale at your local comic shop. No spoilers here, just check it out, its definitely a great read. If you can, try to read Villain's United #6 & Rann/Thanagar War # 6 as they tie directly into IC#1. Also, JSA Classified #4, on sale October 19th, will lead into IC #2. Personally I expect this to sell out pretty quickly, as this book shipped with a 50/50 ratio with Jim Lee on one cover & George Perez on the other. Here's DC's summary of the issue:

INFINITE CRISIS #1 (OF 7)
Written by Geoff Johns; Art by Phil Jimenez & Andy Lanning; Covers by Jim Lee & Sandra Hope and George Pérez

It's finally here: the comics event so massive that it built over the first half of 2005, through COUNTDOWN, DAY OF VENGEANCE, RANN/THANAGAR WAR, VILLAINS UNITED and THE OMAC PROJECT! Prepare for the dawn of the DCU's darkest day in INFINITE CRISIS, a 7-issue miniseries written by Geoff Johns (GREEN LANTERN, JSA) with art by Phil Jimenez (OTHERWORLD, Uncanny X-Men) & Andy Lanning (OTHERWORLD) and covers by George Pérez (CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS) and Jim Lee (BATMAN, SUPERMAN) & Sandra hope! Surrounded by their most fearsome enemies, the world's greatest heroes are divided within and without.

DC's icons — Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman — are joined by Nightwing, Supergirl, Donna Troy, Superboy, Robin, Wonder Girl, Green Lantern, the Flash and more as they face their most dire hour. What happens next will destroy friendships and lives, dictating the direction of the universe for the next generation!

Years in the making, the greatest event to hit the DCU in over two decades is about to explode — don't miss out!

Scott Shaw announced yesterday on his forum that he will be illustrating a back-up story in Teen Titans 30-31 that features return of Captain Carrot and his Amazing Zoo Crew, the first in 20 years! I'm pretty excited, having grown up on "The New Teen Titans" & "DC Comics Presents" so all the nostalgic feelings are coming back to me.

here's what Scott said in his post:

Thanks to Geoff Johns, who has written the story and script for my eight pages, Captain Carrot is indeed returning to DC Comics! Rather than a backup story, these will be key moments in a much bigger story -- which parodies the "grim and gritty" approach to funnybooks that began in Alan Moore's WATCHMEN -- interwoven within the regular TEEN TITANS storyline, written by Geoff and drawn by Tony Daniel. I'm penciling and inking all eight pages myself, and it's a blast!

As the publication date of TEEN TITANS No.'s 30 and 31 approaches, you'll be seeing a lot more "official" publicity on the first "new" Captain Carrot story in twenty years!

(Oh, Jonah...!)

Aloha,

Scott!

Be sure to check this out... I know I will! Teen Titans #30 goes on sale November 16, 2005 at a $2.50 cover price.Teen Titans #31 goes on sale December 21, 2005 at a $2.50 cover price.

JUSTICE #1, the debut issue of the new blockbuster maxiseries by Alex Ross, Jim Krueger and Doug Braithwaite, has sold out at DC Comics. The issue arrived in stores on August 3.

"This is the best reaction I've had to any work of mine in the last ten years," says Ross. "I'd like to think I'm giving people what they want from me, and hopefully the sales show that. The first issue is really just a way to start us getting into much more cliffhanger-like moments of this war we're setting."

-Kids' WB!'s new series, Loonatics Unleashed, was the No. 1 show last Saturday to help the network win the Kids 2-11 ratings. Note the difference in character design after a heavy net protest last spring that deemed the characters "too edgy" & "scary" for younger viewers.

(please note was calculated in Australian dollars - the exchange rate from au to us is .77 to 1.00)

-Also, check out the first & only Superman historical documentary out there, "In A Single Bound" created by filmmaker Ross Marroso. Head over to supermandoc.com to download or pre-order the DVD.
