Supergirl v3 #1
Supergirl v3 #80
I miss Linda :(
Superman/Batman #13
I love Michael Turner's work!
Supergirl v4 #22
This cover is full of win!
Action Comics #555
This was the first comic I ever picked up with Supergirl in it. This issue was part one of a 2 part celebration of Sgirl's 25th anniversary (Just as the Superman/Batman arc rebooting her was for the 35th)
New segment! Every Thursday I'll post my top 5 covers of a comic subject. Since this year is the 70th anniversary of Superman, I thought I'd try to pick my favorite covers from his long history. Here's the first 5:
Superman # 233
I've always loved this cover! This is from the era where Superman was to be "de-powered" by having all Kryptonite on Earth turned into ordinary lead.
Superman #670
The new Superman family, nuff said.
Crisis on Infinite Earths #7
One of the most iconic covers in comics history, this issue is where the original Supergirl died sacrificing herself for her cousin.
Superman [vol.1] Annual #10
An awesome story showing once and for all the Pre-Crisis Superman really was the greatest of all time!
Superman #347
When I first saw this I thought "An enemy Superman can't touch? This has to be good..."
First, some Smallville news..
Helen Slater may appear on the next season of Smallville when it premieres in September. Check out this interview for more. She's also pitching a Supergirl story idea to DC comics. Look for Dean Cain, the former star of Lois & Clark:The New Adventures of Superman from the 90s to show up as well.
2) Justice League movie before Superman Returns sequel?
Some sources claim that the 'Justice League' film is more of a priority for WB than the sequel to 'Superman,' so don’t be surprised if you see Brandon Routh in 'Justice League' first. And here's a last bit of news... the biggest rumor is that one of the superheroes in 'Justice League' wouldn’t see a sequel. Yup, WB is planning a death.
3) The Cimmarean is Back
Conan the Cimmerian #1, the first issue of an all new series will launch in May 2008. The new series will be written by current Conan writer Tim Truman, illustrated by Tomas Giorello, with covers by Cary Nord.
4) Free Comic Book Day 2008
FCBD 2008 will fall on Saturday, May 3rd. Watch future posts for more info as its available!
There's gonna be a lot more progression in the series, as I believe the show only has about 2 more seasons in it... but next season, we will see Supergirl as well as more of the Justice League. Kara will be played by Canadian Laura Vandervoort. What do you think?
Here's the press release:
SUPERGIRL FLIES INTO "SMALLVILLE" DC COMICS' SUPERHEROINE JOINS THE CAST
BURBANK, CA (June 11, 2007) - Look, up in the sky: it's a bird, it's a plane! It's...Supergirl! This fall, Supergirl will be joining the lineup of burgeoning superheroes and villains in SMALLVILLE. Supergirl is the latest DC Comics character to join the series that has previously welcomed Martian Manhunter, The Green Arrow, The Flash, Aquaman, Cyborg and Brainiac. Casting for the Supergirl role is currently underway. SMALLVILLE airs on Thursdays at 8:00-9:00 p.m. ET on The CW.
On SMALLVILLE, the seventh season premiere kicks off with the arrival of Supergirl, whose name is Kara, as Clark's (Tom Welling) 19-year-old cousin. She was born on Krypton and is the daughter of Zor-El, Jor-El's brother. Kara possesses all of Clark's powers and one he doesn't yet have ?? she can fly! Kara also has a strong, rebellious streak that puts her at odds with Clark, and puts her onto Lex's (Michael Rosenbaum) radar. In addition, she takes a romantic interest in Jimmy Olsen (Aaron Ashmore).
"One of the joys of creating SMALLVILLE has been our ability to reinvent and reinterpret classic DC Comics characters," said SMALLVILLE executive producer Al Gough. "Miles and I believe that Supergirl will give our series the mythic jolt that it needs as we head into our seventh season."
Reinterpreting the Superman mythology from its roots, SMALLVILLE was developed for television by Alfred Gough & Miles Millar ("Shanghai Noon," "Spiderman 2"), based on the DC Comics characters. Gough and Millar serve as executive producers, along with Ken Horton, Kelly Souders & Brian Peterson, Todd Slavkin & Darren Swimmer, James Marshall, Mike Tollin, Brian Robbins and Joe Davola. The series is produced by Tollin/Robbins Productions, Millar/Gough Ink and Warner Bros. Television. SUPERMAN was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.
The new season of Justice League Unlimited is now underway, with 2 new episodes tonight. Here's how the network describes "Chaos at the Earth's Core" (Originally titled "Heart of Stone")
Supergirl, Stargirl and Green Lantern go to Skartaris, the fantastic, hidden world at the Earth's core, to help free it from the rule of a brutal dictator.
Here's how the network describes the second episode of the night, "To Another Shore" (Originally titled "Elegy")
Wonder Woman stumbles onto a plot to steal the powers hidden inside the 3000-year-old, frozen remains of the legendary hero, the Viking Prince.
Teen Titans season 5 also begins tonight, here's how the network describes "Homecoming Part 1"
When Beast Boy's former team The Doom Patrol is in trouble, the Titans must embark on a daring mission to save them. Beast Boy explains that this can only mean one thing: the Doom Patrol's greatest foes are back. The Brotherhood of Evil has returned.

According to News.com: "The revisioned Superman tale, filming at Sydney's Fox Studios, could well be the most expensive film of all time ... director Bryan Singer acknowledged its budget is approaching $326 million -- that would top 'Titanic's $250 million and 'Waterworld's $225 million." SUPERGIRL #1 Third Printing (JUL058321) is written by Jeph Loeb, with art by Ian Churchill & Norm Rapmund. Due to arrive in stores on September 28, this new printing features a new cover by Churchill, inspired by the classic cover of ADVENTURE COMICS #252.
"What the heck is going on?!” asks Loeb. “Supergirl, Power Girl, Wonder Woman are all in hot books! You'd think that suddenly the world woke up to fact that the DCU has strong, clever and often funny women who can drive the marketplace — and how great is that?! I’m very lucky to be working with such an extraordinary team: Ian Churchill, Mike Turner, Norm Rapmund, Peter Steigerwald and the fantastic Aspen color team and of course, my good luck charm, Richard Starkings. Big kisses to [Group Editor] Eddie Berganza and [Associate Editor] Jeanine Schaefer, too!”
Loeb adds, “Ian did this particular cover out of love for the original Supergirl and we wanted something that said thank you to all those fans who from 1958 until 2005 have stayed loyal to the character of Kara Zor-El. Personally, I think she's the coolest thing out there!"
“We’re happy to make this issue available once again, as demand for it is still strong,” says Bob Wayne, DC’s VP — Sales. “Retailers should place their orders for the third printing soon to avoid missing out.”

DC Comics announces that superstar artist Michael Turner continues contributing to the return of the Girl of Steel with variant covers for SUPERGIRL #2-4! The covers will be shipped to retailers in a 50/50 split between Turner covers and covers by regular series artists Ian Churchill & Norm Rapmund.
"I’m just as surprised as everyone who is reading this that Michael is continuing to give our book a boost with his gorgeous covers," says writer Jeph Loeb. "DC has clearly gotten behind SUPERGIRL to create enormous excitement. Both Ian and Mike are doing dazzling things and as we all know, launching a new title is very daunting — particularly with a female lead. It’s not about sales; for me it’s never about sales. It’s about our team: myself, (Group Editor) Eddie Berganza, Ian, Mike, Norm Rapmund, Richard Starkings and the brilliance of the Aspen color crew, all working our tails off to create the best book we can. It is very, very rewarding knowing that the maximum number of new readers and longtime fans can enjoy these new adventures of the Girl of Steel!"
"The new SUPERGIRL got off to a very strong start, and having covers by Michael Turner will help maintain the series’ momentum," says Bob Wayne, DC’s VP — Sales. "Retailers should increase their orders on upcoming issues now to make sure they have enough copies for all their customers."
