The Los Angeles Times reports that “Spider-Man” producer Laura Ziskin said the fourth installment in the web-slinging superhero series is tentatively scheduled to arrive in May 2011.
In remarks Thursday to theater owners from California and Nevada, Ziskin said there was no finished screenplay, but that she and Sony Pictures were hopeful “Spider-Man 4” could be ready in three years’ time.
The first three movies comprise one of the most successful franchises in modern Hollywood history, grossing a combined $2.5 billion worldwide. Neither star Tobey Maguire nor director Sam Raimi is yet committed to work on the next installment. But Sony has paid Marvel to renew its rights.
"The Spectacular Spider-Man" debuts on the CW's Kids WB! at 10:00 a.m. EST this Saturday!
The one-hour premiere event features two back-to-back episodes that see Spidey facing off against the likes of the Vulture, the Enforcers and Electro…and that's not to mention the troubles awaiting him as he returns to high-school! Two seasons of 13 episodes each have been ordered.
I'm not sure if you folks have heard about this but Marvel.com has branched off a For Kids Only version of their site. It's not really anything great to speak of.. BUT they have contracted the CGI animation team from the Marvel Ultimate Alliance game to produce shorts just for that site. So you get a 3-part mini-movie every month featuring one particular character and a few guest stars...
January featured "The Adventures Of Iron Man" which guest starred Spider-Man and The Hulk... you can watch the trailers below.

Spider-Man & Mary Jane - no more?
The internet's been abuzz about this possibility since Civil War ended... but was it worth it? In "One More Day" it seems that Mephisto offered to restore May to perfect health - at the cost of Peter & MJ's marriage. He agrees to make the world "forget" that Peter is Spidey, and the couple spend one more day together, ultimately agreeing this was the best course and their love would reunited them someday. The next morning Peter wakes up to find he was never married to MJ, still lived with his aunt... seems the status quo now matches with that of the 70s/80s' Spidey, as his modern history is gone. You can check for the revised history after the break.
Joe Quasada has been pretty adamant about their marriage being nullified for a while now, based on the fact that Peter & MJ were married in the comics only to have it appear in continuity first before being published in the strip:
Sometime around 1986-87 the Spider-Man daily newspaper strip was losing some steam. Stan, who was writing the script was asked to do something to spike it and get people interested. Stan thought that the best thing to do was to marry Peter and MJ in the strip. He supposedly called Jim Shooter leaving Jim a message saying that Spidey was going to get married in the papers within the next few months. Shooter not wanting to see this happen in the strip before it happened in the comics tore up Heaven and Earth in order to get Peter and MJ together and married as soon as possible. Remember, at this point in time in Spidey continuity Peter and MJ weren't even dating, as a matter of fact she wasn't even living in New York. So, within a matter of issues, she was back in his life, engaged instantly, and married just as quickly.
Personally, I think it may be a good idea. I wasn't too happy when I heard his ID was publicly known anyway, and now the Clone Saga didn't happen? Even better! But does this mean Carnage doesn't exist, or that Eddie Brock is still Venom, now cancerless? Either way, we can get back to reading classic Spidey stories!

Get your first look at the all new Spectacular Spider-Man animated series, premiering on Kids WB! February 2nd, 2008.
The comics industry lost a luminary this weekend - Mike Wieringo passed away Sunday of a sudden heart attack. Details are still sketchy as of this time, but according to close sources, the acclaimed artist had chest pains at some point during the day and called 911, but the responders did not make it in time.
Mike Wieringo was 44 years old. He was a vegetarian, and "one of the healthiest ones of us in the bunch," as his longtime friend and collaborator Todd Dezago described him.
Rest in peace to Mike & his family, he was a great inspiration to me, drew one of my favorite versions of Spidey & Flash as well as co-crafting the excellent series Tellos. I still have Flash #80, which I believe was his first DC work and his style had me hooked since. He will be missed.
For more info you can check his blog which his brother now maintains.
The Spectacular Spider-Man is a planned animated television series that is slated to air in March 1, 2008 on Kids' WB on The CW. The TV series is named after the Marvel Comics series The Spectacular Spider-Man.
Riding the crest of Sony's anticipated summer blockbuster Spider-Man 3, the new animated series picks up the original web-slinger's mythology at the beginning of his hero's journey, the show starts the night before his senior year, albeit four months after he gained his costume and powers. He's learning the lessons that will make him a Spider-MAN.
Having spent the summer engaging common criminals with his new-found powers, Peter Parker must conceal his secret identity while engaging a new level of terror - the multi-leveled pressures of teenage life at home and school while combating bigger, badder super-villains in the real world like Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Venom, and Many more classic villans.
According to writer Greg Weisman (creator of "Gargoyles"), the timeline of the original Spider-Man story arcs, which the series is based on will be condensed in order to move the series forward and include such classic and important characters as Flash Thompson, Gwen Stacy, Mary Jane Watson, Betty Brant, Harry Osborn, J. Jonah Jameson, Aunt May Parker, Robbie Robertson, and Liz Allan.
The new series will not follow the same continuity as the Spider-Man film series.

The third installment of the franchise featuring everyone's favorite Wall-Crawler swings onto shelves on October 30. Just in time for Halloween, early holiday gifts, Autumnal celebrations and well, just 'cuz!
Sony Pictures Entertainment is releasing the film—which already grossed a whopping $888 million worldwide in the box offices—in six different arachtastic ways that are sure to get your Spidey-juices flowing! At the top of the list is the "Spider-Man High Definition Trilogy" pack delivering all three films on Blu-ray disc—imagine all the Goblin, Doc Ock, Sandman and Venom-ous glory in HD. Go on. Imagine it. It's quite nice. The three-pack is the only shot fans will have at owning the first two Spider-Man films in the tasty hi-def Blu-Ray format, so true-believers better pounce! For those who want the trilogy but don't have the drool-worthy HD capabilities, never fear: the package will also be available on standard DVD.
If you already have the first two films of the saga or only want the tertiary chapter, it will also be released in single- and double-disc editions in both Blu-Ray and standard format DVD. The solo-disc DVD is packed with super special features like a gag reel, still galleries, a Snow Patrol music video and two audio commentaries, but the double-disc DVD boasts another disc jam-packed with walloping extras such as behind-the-scenes looks at the creation of Sandman and Venom and international TV spots. And finally, SPIDER-MAN 3 will be available for Spider-fans on the run via PSP UMD.
With all those options, it's time to get your pre-orders in order!
This game looks kinda cool, but reminds me of Legos Star Wars. I'll be keeping an eye on this one. Spider-Man:Friend Or Foe will be released on all the next gen consoles this fall. In the meantime, check out the trailer:
In anticipation for the 2008 Iron Man movie, check out this footage I came across this morning. Also, Spider-Man 3 has sold over a record $382 million worldwide, including $151.1 million in the U.S., easily becoming the highest grossing movie ever over the weekend. Expect Spider-Man 4,5 & 6 in the future... lets just see how the sales compare when Shrek The Third & Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End debut in the coming weeks.

Well I just went over to Newsarama and saw very shocking, jaw-dropping news... just wow...
press release:
A day after it went on sale, Ultimate Spider-Man Annual #1 has sold out at Diamond and the response to the return of Marvel Annuals has been incredible.
In a stand-alone story that ties into the monthly title, Ultimate Spider-Man Annual #1 finally reveals who will be Spider-Man’s new girlfriend. Written by monthly scribe Brian Michael Bendis with pencils by Mark Brooks, this double-sized issue is sure to have everyone talking about the new woman in Peter Parker’s life.
"Wow. Thanks so much to our loyal readers. Making a big change like this in Peter's life is a scary proposition and I can't thank everyone enough for being so open to it," says Brian Michael Bendis. "Look forward to all kinds of new story possibilities in the months ahead."
Bendis also thanked his co-creators for crafting such a memorable issue. "Mark Brooks has been on my "must-have" list for a while now. I think he's an amazing penciler and he destroyed on this comic book. Congratulations to him, award-winning colorist Dave Stewart, and the entire art team."
Every Ultimate Annual will have immediate ramifications on their monthly counterpart titles, which was the plan all along according to editor Ralph Macchio.
"We intended for the Ultimate Spider-Man—and all the Ultimate Annuals-- to continue the tradition set by their monthly counterparts: Top creators giving the readership solid stories, beautifully illustrated," says Macchio.
"It’s a tribute to writer Brian Bendis, penciler Mark Brooks and the rest of the team, that this annual has sold out," adds Macchio. "I’m so gratified Ultimate fans have rallied around this very special once-a-year event. And, of course, we’ll continue to deliver on the monthly Ultimate Spider-Man book everyone enjoys."
Annuals were once a yearly tradition for all Marvel titles and now it has made its successful return with two Ultimate Annual sellouts in as many weeks. And the Ultimate Annual action doesn’t end there as Ultimate X-Men Annual #1 and Ultimate Fantastic Four Annual #1 are all set for release over the next few weeks.
Let the Annual tradition begin!
Be sure to pick up these upcoming Ultimate Annuals:

At the WizardWorld: Chicago convention, Marvel announced artist Joe Madureira’s new exclusive contract, and released an image featuring “Joe Mad’s” version of Wolverine, the Hulk, and Spider-Man. Not just a promotional image, it was actually a cover to a new surprise “Convention Special” of House of M #1, one free copy of which was sent to every Diamond account (i.e. retailer) with this week’s new books, and undoubtedly now fetching a premium aftermarket price.
This week the publisher has announced this House of M #1 Convention Special will be made available for order on a limited basis (20 per Diamond account). This second wave of this special will be in stores on August 31st. The project will be announced at a later date. It's been about 8 years since Madureira 's art has graced the interiors of a Marvel comic, since he left to start his own creator-run series Battle Chasers through the Cliffhanger imprint.

From WWC, DAY 1 - CUP O' JOE SECOND REPORT:
A Joe Madureira cover for “House of M” (pictured below) was unveiled, displaying Spider-Man, Hulk and Wolverine. No, Loeb did not go on to say what his and Madureira's project was, but he later hinted that it probably had something to do with one of the characters on the cover displayed.
Madureira was asked if he'd ever finish “Battle Chasers.” The artist seemed disappointed that it never finished, but is content to let the book toil for now.
"It's one of those things that I think about every once in a while, and not having finished it bums me out... I would love to do it at some point, but it would be very far out."
Where has the artist been in the interim? Working in the video game industry as an art director, Madureira said. Most of the work he's done in the past couple years will probably never be seen, he said, unless it gets collected into an art book. But he did say he believes he's learned some “new tricks” while he was away.
From Newsarama:
As for Joe, more details of his deal, project and length of time will be disclosed shortly in the next issue of Wizard I believe. From our discussions, Joe has agreed to do a significant amount of work, and I have to tell you, he’s excited as can be to be back and working on this project. It’s going to be fun to have Joe back in the biz.
As a matter of fact, next weeks' Wizard #168, on sale August 31st will shine some light on Madureira's & Jeph Loeb's new project. Keep locked to this site, Joe Mad! Fan & the Joe Madureira Fansite for all of your Joe Mad news!
In the past 2 weeks, theres been a lot of stuff happening... the Family Guy Movie, titled Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story has been leaked to the internet in high quality a full 2 months before its direct-to-DVD release date. According to the information file published by the release group Angelic Evolution, the movie has been ripped from an “exclusive DVD premiere.” The movie follows Stewie, the family’s maniacal baby genius, who sets out on a road trip to find who he believes to be his real father. The actual DVD, with features and all will be in stores towards the end of September. By the way, if you're a Family Guy fan you won't be dissappointed.
TvshowsonDVD reports that the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Volume 1 has an October 18, 2005 street date. The first volume contains the Best 10 Episodes as chosen by the those who voted on he-man.org last summer.
Everybody knows Thomas Hayden Church is playing Chameleon in the next Spider-Man movie... what everyone might not know, is so is Topher Grace. Church plays Dmitri Smerdyakov, who goes by false name Dr. Turner at Peter's college. The Chameleon also has a brother in this film, which will set up Kraven the Hunter for a future sequel. And Harry will indeed become the Green Goblin, at the very end. Spider-Man 3 will debut in theaters May 4, 2007.
The live-action Transformers movie site has been up for a few weeks now & personally, I can only wonder which way it'll go. The movie is set to open July 4th, 2007 & is now in pre-production.
It seems that we'll be getting a new Spawn Animated series soon... as noted during the San Diego Comic-Con, Spawn:The Animation will air in 2006. Keith David will be returning to do the voice of Spawn & this will serve as a pilot/mini movie which may be shown on TV before reaching DVD next year. Todd McFarlane and Terry Fitzgerald will be executive producers on the new Spawn animated series.
The Press Release From Spawn.com
Today we are proud to release the animation trailer that was shown at San Diego Comic-Con '05 for all to see here on spawn.com. Our update this week will give the "state of the animation report" as well as fan reaction to the animation trailer at the Con and an overview of the panel discussion TME President Terry Fitzgerald led along with IDT/Film Roman.
As of press time, we are trying to choose voice actors for our characters, as we plan to record early next week. Todd has been in Canada on vacation, making this an even bigger challenge than normal. It's decision time and with 12 main characters to cast it can be quite a daunting process not being in the same room with the actors.
Based on the casting choices made this week, Todd and Terry will be in studio in early August to direct the chosen actors. We are moving right along with pre-production and it's been quite an exciting process. On top of nailing down voice talent, our counterparts at IDT/Film Roman are flushing out and polishing up the last of the story boards in preparation for sending them to Korea to be animated. We have been introduced to our directing team in Korea and they have presented us with some stunning work to highlight their talents. We are thrilled to be working with them, as their participation will eliminate many sleepless nights of wondering how it's going overseas.
Reaction to the Spawn: Animation teaser trailer, which was revealed for the first time at the 2005 San Diego Comic-Con, has been overwhelmingly positive. Eager fans who have been waiting patiently for Spawn's return to the world of animation crowded not only the 1000-seat panel discussion -- featuring the creative minds from IDT/Film Roman as well as Terry Fitzgerald and his unique hands-on insight into the project -- but also the McFarlane Companies' booth where the trailer was on display for all to see. Eyes were continually, and in many cases repeatedly (as legions of fans and curious onlookers would return time and again) cast skyward toward the large plasma screen display in order to catch a glimpse of what is to come.
Check out the trailer right here.
Also, Justice League Unlimited fans should read Jim Harey's interview with story editor Dwayne McDuffie... Warlord fans should be ecstatic!
The World Has Changed:House of M panel:
The New X-Men' status quo is changing after the House of M. Craig Kyle and Chris Yost from X-23 are taking over after Nunzio DeFillippis and Christina Weir. Their first arc deals with the repercussions of HoM and how that affected the younger mutants. Editor Mike Marts said that HoM "demands a line-up change." "X-23, Surge, Hellion, Rockslide, Mercury, Elixir, and Dust " are on the new lineup...
Marts says "You have to read all of House of M, then House of M: The Day After and New X-Men # 20, both in November," said Marts. "Then you'll understand why all these characters were chosen to be a part of the New X-Men." He also said none of the present characters are going to any of the other Marvel Universe superteams, nor or any getting solo series...
Marvel Editor Andy Schmidt said Excalibur will be restarted featuring some of the classic line up from writer Chris Claremont and artist Michael Ryan. The line up includes: Captain Britain, Nocturne, Pete Wisdom, and Dazzler.
X-Factor is also returning this November spiraling from the success of the Madrox limited series and out of events from House of M. The series will be centered in the District X region with a darker tone than the original book...
There will be an X-Men/Power Pack limited series starting in October from the Power Pack team of Marc Sumerak and Gurihiru...
The House of M variant covers for # 6 are by Greg Land, #7's are from Sal Larroca, and #8's from Chris Bachalo...
Starting with Uncanny X-Men 464 new creative team is Chris Claremont and Chris Bachalo...
Whedon and Cassady will stay on until Astonishing X-Men #25
Exiles # 69 - #71 is about Beak returning to the mainstream Marvel Universe, but when the Exiles return, its the House of M. Also in Exiles issue # 71, a member of the team will die...
The Pulse # 10 by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Lark is going to be the most closely tied in to the House of M. If people want the full story on House of M, this is the issue to buy...
There are some plans for the X-Statix, but nothing that can be announced yet...
There are no plans for the Man-Thing after its appearance in House of M...
Joe Quesada, Orson Scott Card, Brian K. Vaughan, and Brandon Peterson on the Ultimate Marvel panel:
Concept art was shown featuring Silver Sable, Havok ,and several other characters. Quesada mentioned that Ultimate Silver Sable was in the upcoming Ultimate Spider-Man video game and that the game was penned by Brian Michael Bendis. There was no mention of if she would show up within the pages of any Ultimate Universe comic book.
Teaser art was featured from the final part in the Warren Ellis Ultimate trilogy, Ultimate Extinction. The piece shown was a black and white Galactus looking helmet. Brandon Peterson is tapped to pencil the series... he teased "The Silver Surfer is there, but not in the way you might expect.
"It's not just going to be a Fantastic Four thing," Peterson continued. "It's an entire Ultimate Universe thing with all the major players coming together to team up. Galactus will not be a big guy in a purple suit. We have a really realistic take on Galactus. The scope of the series is huge - as in actual astronomical units being described in the script I had to draw."
When asked "Why weren't Shanna and Black Panther rebooted in Ultimate line?", Joe Q said "The Ultimate Line is intended to be more in line with the movie line. When we tried to do an Ultimate Daredevil to coincide with the movie, we ended up with basically the same character. That's why with BP and Shanna, when we found ourselves going down the same road, we decided they should remain in the regular universe."
Joe Quesada plugged again the fact that major announcements containing the Ultimate Universe would be forthcoming in the next three to four weeks and everyone should "stay tuned."
Other Marvel Universe panel info:
Joe Quesada has signed a new multi-year deal with Marvel Comics that has him not only wearing the Editor-in Chief hat, but also Chief Creative Officer, Publishing.
“Over the next couple of years, my ultimate goals will remain further growing Marvel Comics’ leadership position and expanding our mainstream presence. I want comics to have the same consumer prominence as movies, TV and novels and in doing so continue to grow Marvel Comics as among America’s premiere storytellers,” said Quesada.
New creators on Iron Man, Daredevil and Thor, as well as the New Avengers artist and Incredible Hulk writer, will be announced soon. The new Thor book won't launch until next year.
Punisher #25-30 pit Frank Castle against the NYPD.
Marvel Comics revealed a new six-issue Moon Knight series will begin in February. Moon Knight: The Bottom is written by Charlie Huston, with art by David Finch. Huston, 37, is an author of such books as Caught Stealing, Six Bad Things and the upcoming Already Dead.
"This is Charlie's inaugural comic work," Marvel editor-in-chief Joe Quesada said. "Charlie's are the best scripts I've ever seen coming from someone who hasn't written comics before."
The book will be set firmly in continuity and will feature Marc Spector as Moon Knight. "But it moves the story forward," Quesada said.
Another Mary Jane series written by Sean McKeever will start in November or December.
Fantastic Four: First Family, a six-issue series, will launch in January, written by Joe Casey, with art by Chris Weston
"We go back and explain a lot of the early stuff," Casey said. "There a lot of firsts, like the first time Reed Richards kissed the government's ass, which he seems to do a lot now."
J. Michael Strazcynski's Book of Lost Souls will be published in October, with art by Colleen Doran.
New Thunderbolts #13-14 is a meeting with the New Avengers
New Avengers- Finch's last arc will feature Ronin and then Frank Cho's arc on New Avengers will feature Spider-Woman
The original numbering on the She-Hulk will be relaunched in October, but will soon revert to cumulative numbering with a #100 issue (combining the original series, Sensational & the most recent series)
Cloak and Dagger would be seen in the pages of a Runaways arc beginning with issue # 9. The New Avengers will also be featured in that arc....
Luke Cage will appear in six issues of Black Panther.
Quesada said to look for some Iron Man-related mini-series
J. Michael Straczynski said the move of Supreme Power from MAX to Marvel Knights won't impact the title's contents creatively.
"The story isn't going to change, the characters aren't going to change and the tone isn't going to change," he said. "The only thing that will change will be the imprint."
Straczynski said there won't be any crossovers between the Marvel and Supreme Power universe, but there might be Marvel Universe-like characters in Supreme Power.
Secret War will conclude in November, and Dan Buckley said a hardcover is targeted for February or March
The panel ended with Quesada teasing a project. He said last year at Comic-Con he was asked if there was any one writer he could have come work on a Marvel Universe project, who would it be, and then flashed "The King" image without further explanation.
