Well I just went over to Newsarama and saw very shocking, jaw-dropping news... just wow...

Nuff said.

I just wanted to announce that Comics Impulse is now on MySpace. There's more about the future of this blog can be found here. Again, I appreciate all the people who have made this, Comics Universe and New Comics Universe pretty trafficked blogs in the past 18 months. The best is yet to come, so while there's only a few more weeks until the changes, check out the MySpace link or to the left of your screen.

I just surfed to Teen Titans Animated and I was shocked to learn that season six of the hugely popular animated show may not even make it to the air. TTA cites that a source inside the series said Cartoon Network has decided not to pick up the show for the next season. I watch this show faithfully, with my daughter (who loves the show and watches every chance she can) as I did with Batman, Superman & Static Shock. If there are any fans out there who like this show & don't wanna see it end this way, read TTA's plea to the viewers:

Teen Titans' Sixth Season Looks Unlikely

As of November 15th, a source very close to production of Teen Titans has alerted titanstower.com: The prospect of a sixth season of the popular series is looking very, very, very dim. So if anyone was inclined to start a letter writing campaign, it needs to be started yesterday!

If you feel there are more Titans stories to be told, let Cartoon Network know how you feel. Snail mail is the most effective way. Scores of individual letters have the most impact; Petitions are generally worthless in networks' eyes. The best bet is to start a letter writing campaign with individual heartfelt letters stating you would like the show to continue. MAKE SURE TO PUT "SAVE TEEN TITANS!" BIG AND BOLD ON THE OUTSIDE ENVELOPE!

I found the name of the man responsible for Programming and Development of Cartoon Network: Senior Vice President Bob Higgins. We can start addressing letters to him. Spread the word and tell your friends. Titans Fans - Go!

If you can, try to read Villain's United #6 & Rann/Thanagar War # 6 as they tie directly into IC#1. Also, JSA Classified #4, on sale October 19th, will lead into IC #2. Personally I expect this to sell out pretty quickly, as this book shipped with a 50/50 ratio with Jim Lee on one cover & George Perez on the other. Here's DC's summary of the issue:

INFINITE CRISIS #1 (OF 7)

Scott Shaw announced yesterday on his forum that he will be illustrating a back-up story in Teen Titans 30-31 that features return of Captain Carrot and his Amazing Zoo Crew, the first in 20 years! I'm pretty excited, having grown up on "The New Teen Titans" & "DC Comics Presents" so all the nostalgic feelings are coming back to me.

here's what Scott said in his post:

Thanks to Geoff Johns, who has written the story and script for my eight pages, Captain Carrot is indeed returning to DC Comics! Rather than a backup story, these will be key moments in a much bigger story -- which parodies the "grim and gritty" approach to funnybooks that began in Alan Moore's WATCHMEN -- interwoven within the regular TEEN TITANS storyline, written by Geoff and drawn by Tony Daniel. I'm penciling and inking all eight pages myself, and it's a blast!

As the publication date of TEEN TITANS No.'s 30 and 31 approaches, you'll be seeing a lot more "official" publicity on the first "new" Captain Carrot story in twenty years!

(Oh, Jonah...!)

Aloha,

Scott!

Be sure to check this out... I know I will! Teen Titans #30 goes on sale November 16, 2005 at a $2.50 cover price.Teen Titans #31 goes on sale December 21, 2005 at a $2.50 cover price.

Justice #1 Sells Out @ DC

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

JUSTICE #1, the debut issue of the new blockbuster maxiseries by Alex Ross, Jim Krueger and Doug Braithwaite, has sold out at DC Comics. The issue arrived in stores on August 3.

"This is the best reaction I've had to any work of mine in the last ten years," says Ross. "I'd like to think I'm giving people what they want from me, and hopefully the sales show that. The first issue is really just a way to start us getting into much more cliffhanger-like moments of this war we're setting."

JUSTICE #2 is scheduled for an October 19 release.

Baltimore Comic-Con Shines with Stars, Raises $$$ for Actor, CBLDF, Katrina

Fans and Pros Cheer 6th Annual Con in Charm City as Attendance Doubles

"I didn't know this was such a big show!"-- This was the statement of one attendee at the jam packed Baltimore Comic-Con last weekend, as DC , Image, IDW, and a slew of mainstream and independent creators, hit the scene in the Baltimore Convention Center. Golden-, Silver-, and modern age retailers were also well represented, and a coty of Superman #1 was sold during the weekend's festivities. To many in attendance, Baltimore was noted as one of the "...few great comic shows still about comics."

Marv Wolfman, Erik Larsen, Walter & Louise Simonson, Frank Cho, Howard Charkin, Mike Wieringo, Robert Kirkman, and local boy Frank Cho were all on hand, meeting fans, signing comics, and doing sketches. All-Star Wrestler-turned comics author Mick Foley was a big draw to the show, promoting his series of childdren's books with artist Jill Thompson. Rob Liefeld was also in attendance, making his first East Coast appearance in nine years, and thousands flocked his table for him to sign issues of "Teen Titans" #27, given out in the thousands by organizer Marc Nathan. Liefeld, like many of the exhibitors at the show, was impressed with the fun, comics-centric feel of the convention, proclaiming, "I'm digging this show!"

Other creators, including Howard Porter, Ron Garney, Mike Manley, Joseph Michael Linsner, Jim Starlin, and JG Jones, were equally pleased with the throes of fans visiting their booths, many to get autographs for "Drawing Strength," a Katrina benefit sketchbook they contributed art for (and for the auction during the show) produced by Sky-Dog Press specifically for the Baltimore Comic-Con, raising over $4000 for Habitat For Humanity. Across the aisle, special guest John Romita raised thousands for ACTOR, by auctioning custom sketches, helping to raise upwards of $9000., and CBLDF Executive Director Charles Brownstein also mentioned a healthy contribution total, including a $4000 check from one publisher.

Programming was packed, as Adam Hughes, Phil Noto, Matt Wagner and others discussed comics cover creation, show favorite Mike Wieringo, Cho and special guest Wolfman discussed the current and past Spider-Man series, and Dan DiDio gave a bit of Crisis Counseling, explaining the current Earth shattering events in the DC Universe. Other panels included inking greats Dick Ayers, Terry Austin and Jimmy Palmiotti discussing embellishing, and decidedly all-ages creators John Gallagher and Rich faber moderated panels regarding Kids Comics, including a How-To Create Comics forum, with many kids and teenagers on hand, drawing their own mini comics, and learning the secrets of fun comics form the likes of Todd Dezago, Louise Simonson, Jimmy Gownley, and Andy Runton.

Regarding attendance, convention organizer Marc Nathan estimated a doubling from last year, without getting too specific. "I don't want to get into the new math that conventions seem to be using in determining numbers lately," stated a very happy Nathan, "but I will say, based upon how packed the show was, and retailer response on both Saturday and Sunday, I am very grateful to have had such great guests to help double attendance at the Baltimore Comic-Con--we could not do it without them."

Nathan was happy to announce September 9-10, 2006, as the date for NEXT YEAR's Baltimore Comic-Con. What does he have planned to top 2005? "Whatever it is," Nathan said, "...it will be all about COMICS."

I'm very proud to announce the Syracuse Comic Book Expo on October 15, 2005. Please mark your calendars and come out to the Palace Theater in Eastwood, NY. There will be many, many vendors and spectacular events are scheduled. Every 30 minutes from 10am to 4pm, an autographed or limited edition comic book will go to a lucky winner! Guests include Scott Beatty, Frank Cammuso (Max Hamm: Fairy Tale Detective) , Kevin Conrad (Hulk:Destruction), Steve Ellis (The Silencers) & Eisner Award winner Sean McKeever among others. SUPERGIRL #1 Third Printing (JUL058321) is written by Jeph Loeb, with art by Ian Churchill & Norm Rapmund. Due to arrive in stores on September 28, this new printing features a new cover by Churchill, inspired by the classic cover of ADVENTURE COMICS #252.

"What the heck is going on?!” asks Loeb. “Supergirl, Power Girl, Wonder Woman are all in hot books! You'd think that suddenly the world woke up to fact that the DCU has strong, clever and often funny women who can drive the marketplace — and how great is that?! I’m very lucky to be working with such an extraordinary team: Ian Churchill, Mike Turner, Norm Rapmund, Peter Steigerwald and the fantastic Aspen color team and of course, my good luck charm, Richard Starkings. Big kisses to [Group Editor] Eddie Berganza and [Associate Editor] Jeanine Schaefer, too!”

Loeb adds, “Ian did this particular cover out of love for the original Supergirl and we wanted something that said thank you to all those fans who from 1958 until 2005 have stayed loyal to the character of Kara Zor-El. Personally, I think she's the coolest thing out there!"

“We’re happy to make this issue available once again, as demand for it is still strong,” says Bob Wayne, DC’s VP — Sales. “Retailers should place their orders for the third printing soon to avoid missing out.”

Telltale, Inc. is pleased to announce the immediate availability of its first interactive tale based on “Out from Boneville,” from Jeff Smith’s acclaimed Bone series. Visitors to the Telltale website can also download a free demo version of the game.

Telltale, an emerging pioneer in interactive adventures and entertainment, is making this title available through its direct-to-consumer Telltale Now™ channel, for downloading titles over the Internet. This can be accessed at the bone.telltalegames.com URL.

The Bone adventures begin with three cousins – Fone Bone, Phoney Bone and Smiley Bone – who become separated in a vast, uncharted desert. One by one, they find their way into a deep, forested valley filled with wonderful and terrifying creatures and new mysteries that await them.

Hailed by reviewers and educators alike as engaging for all ages, the Bone books have become the anchor for a series of graphic novels from Scholastic’s new Graphix imprint.

“I’ve worked very closely with Telltale as they’ve been developing this title and have been very impressed,” says Jeff Smith, creator of Bone.

“They’ve done an amazing job capturing the essence of my story and adapting it for a new medium – with great animation, voices, and fun puzzles and games worked into the story in a very natural way.”

“We’re finding that Bone plays really well as an interactive tale,” says Dan Connors, CEO of Telltale. “It has terrific characters, an interesting setting and a story that hits on many different levels. It has something for everyone, with an approachable narrative for kids; fun mini-games and puzzles; and deeper elements for fans of classic adventures and epic sagas.”

The internet is on fire after rumors speculated from the Cup of Joe panel at Newsarama:

Newsarama: From “MrMxyzptlk”: we know that Leinil Yu is coming to the Ultimate Universe. That is cool. But can you confirm or deny that Joe Madureira and Michael Turner will work on the Ultimates titles too?

Joe Q: I can do no such thing.

There's no concrete answer, and we can safely assume there is a possiblity that either artist may or may not take over the Ultimates series with volume 3 next spring. Well, that is until Wednesday(August 31), when Wizard reveals Joe Mad's new project

Then, Cyphon from Newsarama commented that CB Cebulski confirmed that Jeph Loeb and Joe Mad are the next team on Ultimates.

First, he was asked what Joe Mad is working on and he said "See Wizard in four days".

Then he was asked who the next team on Ultimates is, he said "See Wizard in four days."

Then he added, "I think you can all put two and two together."

Everyone is certainly abuzz... but until then, let your imagination flow and we'll all find out Wednesday is this one is true.

update: the Wizard website has indeed confirmed that Loeb & Mad will work on The Ultimates volume 3. Stay tuned for more news as it comes.

press release:
A day after it went on sale, Ultimate Spider-Man Annual #1 has sold out at Diamond and the response to the return of Marvel Annuals has been incredible.

In a stand-alone story that ties into the monthly title, Ultimate Spider-Man Annual #1 finally reveals who will be Spider-Man’s new girlfriend. Written by monthly scribe Brian Michael Bendis with pencils by Mark Brooks, this double-sized issue is sure to have everyone talking about the new woman in Peter Parker’s life.

"Wow. Thanks so much to our loyal readers. Making a big change like this in Peter's life is a scary proposition and I can't thank everyone enough for being so open to it," says Brian Michael Bendis. "Look forward to all kinds of new story possibilities in the months ahead."

Bendis also thanked his co-creators for crafting such a memorable issue. "Mark Brooks has been on my "must-have" list for a while now. I think he's an amazing penciler and he destroyed on this comic book. Congratulations to him, award-winning colorist Dave Stewart, and the entire art team."

Every Ultimate Annual will have immediate ramifications on their monthly counterpart titles, which was the plan all along according to editor Ralph Macchio.

"We intended for the Ultimate Spider-Man—and all the Ultimate Annuals-- to continue the tradition set by their monthly counterparts: Top creators giving the readership solid stories, beautifully illustrated," says Macchio.

"It’s a tribute to writer Brian Bendis, penciler Mark Brooks and the rest of the team, that this annual has sold out," adds Macchio. "I’m so gratified Ultimate fans have rallied around this very special once-a-year event. And, of course, we’ll continue to deliver on the monthly Ultimate Spider-Man book everyone enjoys."

Annuals were once a yearly tradition for all Marvel titles and now it has made its successful return with two Ultimate Annual sellouts in as many weeks. And the Ultimate Annual action doesn’t end there as Ultimate X-Men Annual #1 and Ultimate Fantastic Four Annual #1 are all set for release over the next few weeks.
Let the Annual tradition begin!
